In this year, representatives from South African disability organisations visited Berlin. Throughout the 2-week visit by Ingrid Daniels (Cape Mental Health Society) and Mike Toni (Disabled People South Africa), the improvement of the employment situation of disabled people was intensively discussed.
The visit and the resulting discussions with experts at the Integration Office, the Employment Agency, various social firms, and political representatives for the interests of disabled people were guided by the intention to incorporate the experience into the political debate in South Africa.
With the opening of the first CMHS integration company in South Africa planned for early 2007, a practical model project was created. This also represented an important starting point for further discussion on the implementation of the Employment Equality Act.
